1. What are you most looking forward to about Fall?
I am most looking forward to not going outside and sweating while I stand there.  Seriously, the weather is finally gorgeous for a mid-afternoon long run to look at all the foliage and pretty colors on the trails.  Oh, and sweaters, cardis, and boots!

2. What is your favorite sports team?

The Marquette Golden Eagles. #mubb

3. If you could go back to college is there one thing you would change?

Not be such a crazy, basket case, insecure freshman. And not go to college dating anyone.

4. What was your favorite class you ever took?

I really enjoyed my biochemistry course, actually.  I think it was mostly because I wasn’t pre-med (secondary education, FTW!) so I didn’t have to stress out about getting an A so I could get into med school.  My most favorite education course was my advanced diverse societies where I wrote a paper on ebonics and realized how many amazing American sub-cultures there are.

5. Reach into your purse what is the first thing you grab?
My phone or sunnies.

Definitely still easing into the whole blogging thing again and luckily one of my favorite link-ups is today!

1. One item you wish you could splurge on right now:
OMG, I (and everyone else on Pinterest) have been swooning over The J.Crew Factory Herringbone Vest

But, I will probably end up purchasing this just-as-cute, but way more affordable, black vest from Old Navy

2. If you had an entire weekend of no plans what would you do?
Convince myself to run, go to Yoga Sculpt (best.class.ever), hunker down and watch Netflix/Hulu, and drink coffee.  Not necessarily in that order.

3. Next place you are visiting outside of your current city?
In my now infinite free time {sarcasm}, I am trying to find a way to get to Stevens Point, WI to see my new “nephew”, but we are going to Chicago in early September for the Chicago Half Marathon.

4. Are you a neat freak or a clutterbug?
Let’s just say I’m a piler, not a filer.  I know where everything is, but it is in massive piles around the apartment.  It drives Neat-Freak-Chris NUTS.

5. Favorite Summer purchase?
85% of my living room furniture is new as of this summer (you know, moving…) so I’m madly in love with what I’ve done with the place.  Clothing wise, it’s my new white Chuck Taylors.

High Five for Friday

“There are no big deals in life except for Death, Divorce and Moving”.

1// We moved!  I can’t believe we are finally here.  And by “we”, I mean “me” as Chris is gone for 2 weeks.  Then, home for one.  Then, gone again for 4.  I threatened that it would be all crafts all the time.  Instead, I decided to buy furniture for the living room.  Can’t wait for that reveal!

2//  WAY back in November, we decided to register for the Summerfest Rock ‘n’ Sole Half-Marathon.  It was the cheapest half-marathon we’ve registered for in a LONG time (only $55/person!  Remind me why this is my hobby again…?).  The catch is that it turned out to be 3 (!!) days after our big move.  But, because we paid for it, we ran it.  It was our slowest half-marathon time ever and we planned it that way.  Half-marathon #6 is in the books…go us.

3// We went to our first fest of the season.  Milwaukee has a different themed fest at the Summerfest grounds almost every weekend.  We got free tickets to Polish Fest in our Rock ‘n’ Sole swag bag, so we couldn’t NOT go.  It was OK, but it was fun to be out and about.

4// On Friday morning, I have my first training for my summer job – teaching physics for a summer program at Marquette!  It’ going to be so rad being on campus again and I’m so excited to reconnect with everyone from college now that I’m less neurotic.    I think I came off a little strong at our dinner meeting on Wednesday night, but I’m hopeful that I can make up for it tomorrow.

5// The Milwaukee public library has become my new BFF.  I have read 2.5 books since I got my library card on Monday.  The horrible weather (when did I move to Seattle again?!) has been helpful in addition to me not having a legit schedule.  My mornings lately have been getting up, making a cup of coffee and then snuggling back into bed to read for a few hours.  We don’t have a couch at the moment, so my bed is really what I’ve got – but it’s the best.

What have been some highlights for you lately?!

Moving to MKE: We made it!

Well, holy shit.  We made it.

We started out with this…

Packing your kitchen is the WORST.  The cabinets hide so much stuff and there’s just so.much.stuff.  For one of the smallest rooms in the house, it definitely had the most boxes dedicated to it.

Packing a moving truck definitely takes some skill.  We sold a lot of our belongings before we moved, which helped a lot.  And while it was probably the worst Tetris game ever, we were able to fit everything in a 12 foot truck and our 2-door Honda Civic.

But it wouldn’t be a major life event for us without a crisis.

We were halfway to Milwaukee when Chris pulled off the highway at a random exit.  “Hmm,” I thought, “this can’t be good.”  It turns out the check engine light was on.  After assuming it was the fuel cap, we called the company of the truck (it rhymes with Smudge-it) and they were like, “If you haven’t lost power, keep going!”

OK, whatever you say Smudge-it Truck Company.

So, we kept on trucking (no pun intended) and we’re navigating through the highways surrounding the city.  I speed ahead of Chris as it’s my job to lead us from the highway to the apartment.  After taking a wrong turn (shut up, directions are not my strong point), we’re waiting at a stop light and I see Chris flip on his left-hand turn signal behind me.  “What the hell?” I thought.  I turn left into a Toys ‘R’ Us parking lot and see that he’s not moving.  This falls under “Not Good”.

I park the Civic and run into traffic to see what’s going on.  The truck had lost power and it was not planning on moving anytime soon.  We are seriously screwed.  We’re 5 miles away from the apartment, all of our stuff is in the truck and the truck is out of commission.

Needless to say, Chris was NOT happy.  I called our friends to let them know they were off the hook for helping us unpack and we were met with a lot of “OMG” and “Are you SERIOUS?!”  No, I’m totes lying to you {sarcasm}.  On the bright side, we have awesome friends because they ended up helping us unpack anyways.  Even those who couldn’t make it were super supportive and offered to help us organize (sorry I never called you back, Ang!).

Long story short, we called Smudge-It AGAIN and they sent someone out.  The guy from the maintenance place was like, “Oh, it must be the fuel pump.”  Well, that’s super, how are we supposed to move all of our belongings?  Chris and the Guy limped to the apartment as less than an idle.  But, we (and our stuff) made it to the apartment in one piece.

At least we have a good story now?

What are your moving horror stories?
