Weekly Workouts – 08.26-09.01

Another week of workouts gone by, let’s recap…

This week was so freaking hot.  It was so hot that we had morning practices all week due to the heat advisory that didn’t end until Friday evening at 7pm.  Oy vey.

Monday – 2 miles with XC team.

Tuesday – 2 miles with XC team.

Wednesday – 1.3-ish miles to and from hill for practice with team.

Thursday – 5.5 miles with 9th grade team.  They were going to be late for class so I ran with them out of solidarity.  I too was late and felt HORRIBLE.

Friday – “Track attack” with team – one lap around the track at a comfortable pace then accelerate to soccer fields to run a lap at race pace.  Total mileage including warm-up was 2.5 miles.

Saturday – Woke up early to run an easy SOLO 4.3 miles.  It was pretty nice after rounding up a gaggle of MS girls all week.

Sunday – Rest.

Now, I know that there’s no long run this week.  That’s actually coming this evening.  We came down to my in-laws house 3 hours away on Friday night so we could be in central A/C for one more day.  This was the best.decision.ever.  Yup, no air conditioning in the new place save for a window box unit in our bedroom.  Anywho, we’ve had a ton of fun with C’s parents, his sister and her boyfriend as the in-laws celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary in conjunction with their retirement from the corporate offices of a large Midwestern insurance company.  The only down side is that C forgot his running shoes so we’ll be running together tonight when we get back to IC (12 for her, 15 for him).

Goals for this week:

  • Continue to run with team.
  • Do the hill work with athletes to motivate younger athletes.
  • Do a great job on Saturday at our second first meet (the actual first one was cancelled due to the heat, BOO).
  • Run the long run on Sunday morning (10 miles)
  • Get to yoga at some point this week!

How were your workouts this week?  What are your goals for next week?

  1. Hello! I love following your blog and as a new runner, really enjoy hearing how you plan out your workouts for the week. What app/program do you use that produces the graph that is at the top of this post? Thanks!

    • Aww! Thanks! I use Daily Mile (the free version). It’s a web-based program that you can map out routes and keep track of your workouts. I love it (maybe a little too much). Can’t wait to read more about your half-marathon adventures!
